Welcome to the Chou Lab at UCSF!

CAR T cell killing bladder cancer cells — we are interested in developing novel immune therapies.

Cancer cells invading into matrigel — we are interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying metastasis

Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Translational Oncology

We are vibrant group of researchers broadly interested in cancer biology and translational oncology. Current research in the Chou Lab focuses on (1) understanding the molecular drivers of genitourinary malignancies, including prostate and bladder cancers; (2) investigating the mechanisms that contribute to disease progression, drug resistance and metastasis, including the role of the tumor immune microenvironment; and (3) developing novel therapies for genitourinary cancers, including CAR T and bispecific immune cell engagers.

Our Lab is part of the UCSF Prostate Cancer and Bladder Cancer Programs, the Division of Hematology/Oncology, and the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. We utilize cancer cell biology, immunology, CRISPR screening, mouse modeling and genomic approaches, and aim to translate discoveries from the lab into the clinic.

We work collaboratively with basic scientists, radiologists, chemists, computational biologists, pathologists, urologic surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists at the UCSF. We are excited to share our research with you!
